The India Film Festival of Alberta goes online, offers free drive-in screenings

“Even though the drive-in movies are free, people must register for a ticket so we can control the number of cars.”

The Calgary drive-in component of the festival will be held at the Big Rock,t 5555 76th Ave. S.E. Sept. 10, 11 and 12.

On Sept. 10 the festival will screen Chhichhore or The Flippant Ones, a 2019 award-winning comedic coming-of-age Hindi language movie.

There are two films on Sept. 11. The first is Golkeri or Mango Pickle which received its release in India this past February but had its theatrical showings cancelled due to the pandemic so this is the film’s Canadian premiere.

The second film on Sept 11 is The Lunchbox, one of the most successful Indian romantic comedy films in recent years.

The final drive-in movie in Calgary on Sept. 12 is the 2015 comedy Amar Akbar Anthony a Malayalam language film.
