The judge deciding the fate of Calgary murder suspect Ronald Candaele was on Wednesday shown security camera footage the Crown contends show his wife’s final moments.

Calgary police analyst Mark Ruggieri presented a PowerPoint presentation from the witness stand to Justice Blair Nixon using CCTV clips from two Bowness homes and a nearby gas station.

The footage from a Bowfort Road N.W. Shell station showed two people entering the gas bar store who were identified to Ruggieri by other investigators as Candaele and his new wife, Melissa Rae Blommaert.

Ruggieri said the two were at the station from approximately 4:03 a.m. to 4:08 a.m. on Feb. 10, 2020.

A short time later, a camera on a 34th Avenue N.W. home showed a U-Haul van heading in an easterly direction on the Bowness residential street.

The videos presented by Ruggieri included one clip in which a person can be seen exiting the U-Haul and walking along 34th Avenue before the van follows a short time later.
