Police are investigating an overnight shooting that left one man suffering gunshot wounds.
Calgary police responded to reports of shots fired at approximately 12:30 a.m in the 1100 block of 3rd Avenue N.W. It was reported that a group of men were shooting at each other.
Shortly after the shooting, a man went to the Sheldon M. Chumir Health Centre after being shot. His injuries were non-life threatening.
Authorities said officers were quick to the scene and arrested all parties involved. They also seized a vehicle in connection to the shooting.
This is the fifth shooting in the past 30 days.
“In the last three or four months, it’s definitely gone up,” said a Calgary police spokesperson. “There’s a lot of gun play going on in the city right now that seems to be an ongoing issue. But I wouldn’t say it’s any more or any less than it has been in the last three or four months.”
Shootings are trending higher than previous years, according to police.
The investigation into Saturday’s shooting is ongoing.
