To date, Alberta has administered 92,315 doses of COVID-19 vaccine. In total, 2.1 per cent of Albertans have been vaccinated, outpacing all provinces except for Prince Edward Island and Saskatchewan.

Alberta reported 456 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday from more than 8,000 tests, about a 5.5-per-cent positivity rate. The rate of new infections continued a downward trend, but Hinshaw warned Albertans shouldn’t let their guards down yet.

“Our positivity rate is declining but it is still far above the one to three per cent that we saw for most of the summer and fall,” Hinshaw said Tuesday, adding testing demand has declined in the last month.

As of Tuesday, there were 11,096 active COVID-19 cases in Alberta, including nearly 4,249 in the Alberta Health Services Calgary zone.

As well, there were 740 Albertans in hospital with the virus, 119 of whom were in intensive-care units.

Hinshaw will address Albertans from Edmonton at 3 p.m.
