Firefighters battled flames consuming a northwest home early Saturday morning.

Reports of a house fire in the 400 block of 20 Avenue N.W. were received by emergency services at approximately 5 a.m. When Calgary fire crews arrived, they found a two-storey home “fully involved with smoke and fire.”

“Crews quickly started a fire attack while checking for occupants of both the source home and exposed homes on either side,” said the Calgary Fire Department in a statement.

“Once determined that all residents were safely evacuated fire crews focused on the extinguishment of the fire and the protection of the exposed homes.”

The source home was significantly damaged and is no longer inhabitable. Homes on either side took damage to the exterior, said the fire service.

No injuries have been reported, but Alberta Health Services was on scene.

Calgary police were also at the scene to assist with safety and control local traffic.

The cause of the fire was not known Saturday but remained under investigation.
