Family and police seek new tips in 2019 murder of Matthew Maniago

Calgary police have released new information about the fatal shooting of Matthew Maniago last year in the hopes it will generate new leads in the case.

Maniago, 29, was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds just before midnight on Oct. 7, 2019. He was declared dead at the scene, in the 100 block of Mt. Aberdeen Manor S.E.

CCTV footage released on Wednesday showed one of the two vehicles believed to have been involved in the shooting.

One, a blue 2017 Nissan Maxima, had been stolen from a residence two weeks before the murder and was recovered at the scene.

The second vehicle, a white 2007-2009 Honda CRV, was stolen during a break and enter in Douglasdale one day before the shooting. Police are still looking for that vehicle.

Police believe both vehicles were in the southwest community of Killarney prior to the shooting, and have released video evidence of this.

Investigators believe Maniago’s killing was targeted and that people in the city have knowledge of what happened and who was involved.
