Calls to address staffing shortages after 11th McKenzie Towne resident dies
An 81-year-old resident of the McKenzie Towne Continuing Care Centre in Calgary has died, marking the facility’s 11th death due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.
The southeast Calgary facility has become the epicentre of the virus outbreak within the city. More than 50 active residents and at least 36 staff members have tested positive for COVID-19.
UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson moved to intensive care
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was moved to intensive care on Monday after his coronavirus symptoms worsened and he has asked Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab to deputize, Downing Street said.
Johnson was admitted to hospital on Sunday night and had been undergoing tests after suffering persistent coronavirus symptoms for more than 10 days, but the government had earlier said he was in good spirits and still in charge.
