Alberta Health Services says Friday is the last day for walk-in COVID-19 immunizations at Telus Convention Centre.
In a Twitter post on Thursday evening, AHS said that because of overwhelming uptake for walk-in appointments, its current supply will only accommodate scheduled appointments after Friday.
The Telus Convention Centre walk-in vaccination site in #YYC is at capacity and is no longer accepting walk-ins today. We encourage people to book an appointment through the AHS online booking tool: https://t.co/E59y9DCRMo or at their local pharmacy.
The change will not affect walk-in services in other places in the province.
Alberta opened up eligibility for AstraZeneca to people between 40 and 54 on Tuesday and the uptake was swift.
For the last three days AHS has tweeted before 11:30 a.m. that they are at capacity at the Telus Convention Centre already, and would not be able to accept any more walk-ins on those days.
AHS says those wishing to book appointments can do so online or by calling 8-1-1.
