Calgary police charge 2nd man in fatal Forest Lawn shooting

Calgary police said Thursday they’ve charged a second man with manslaughter in relation to a fatal shooting in the northeast community of Forest Lawn in late March.

Jesse Shaye Troy George, 30, of Calgary was found in medical distress after police responded to reports of gunfire near 52nd Street S.E. and Memorial Drive around 10 p.m. on March 27.

He died a short time later.

On March 29, police charged John Tabler, a 41-year-old Calgary resident, with second-degree murder in relation to George’s death.

After reviewing additional evidence, police said they later identified a second man who is believed to have been involved in the shooting.

On Wednesday, officers surrounded a home in the 5200-block of Memorial Drive S.E. and arrested this second suspect.

Martin Wallace Yuen, 51, of Calgary has now been charged with one count of manslaughter in relation to the shooting.

He is set to appear in court on May 6.

Police said the victim was known to both Yuen and Tabler, and the shooting is believed to have been the result a personal dispute between the men.

“Our investigations do not stop once a suspect is charged,” Staff Sgt. Martin Schiavetta said in a release.

“In each case, we continue to review the evidence and if it is believed anyone else was involved in the commission of the homicide, no matter how small their involvement is, we will lay additional charges.”
