Boil water advisory issued for village of Rockyford

A boil water alert has been issued for the village of Rockyford in southern Alberta.

The alert, issued at 9:30 p.m. Monday, states that water might be unsafe to drink or use due to the water distribution system being without pressure for an extended period of time.

The information alert asks residents to please boil water and fill containers if needed for morning, as water will be shut off through the night for repair.

The town said in a Facebook post at 8 p.m. that the location of a leak at the distribution plant had been identified, and a contractor was on the way to fix it. Repairs were expected to take a few hours at least.

Water needs to be brought to a rapid rolling boil for one minute before it can be safely used.

Rockyford, which has a population of around 300 people, is located about 40 kilometres southwest of Drumheller.
